Forever Young: the book!

I just found out about this. A combination of two of my fave things--children's books and Bob Dylan. Ginee Seo Books (Simon and Schuster) just pubbed a new picture book based on one of my favorite Dylan songs, "Forever Young". It's a real sappy tune, and I love it. It really does make a perfect picture book, now that I'm thinking about it. And the illustrator, Paul Rogers, did a kickin job of getting it done. I hadn't heard of him before, and looked him up. His other illo stuff (on his site) is quite different than what's in Forever Young, but very nice. On his blog (newer stuff?) there's tons of excellent drawings. More sketchy line work that I dig a lot. He talks more about his work on the book, on his blog here. Great blog too!

AND, there's actually a promotional video to accompany the launch of this book, backdropped by this sweet Dylan ditty! So great.

"May you build a ladder to the stars/And climb on every rung."

I swear, I hoped to see you illustrate that line since we first talked about Dylan, back in the day, when this madcap affair first began.

Felt the need to chime in on your love of Forever Young. My husband and I recently celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary. Forever Young by Bob Dylan was our song choice to be played during our wedding ceremony. A very good friend played it on his acoustical guitar. Bob Dylan was and still is one of our favorites. When we listen to Bob Dylan we listen on our old vinyl albums, scratches and all. It is one of the all time great songs and I'm very happy to see someone of the younger generation than my husband and I have such an appreciation for the tune.
You should write out the lyrics, frame it and hang it in your babies room. Great words with which to raise a child.
Sorry, didn't mean to ramble on but this brought back very sweet, loving memories for me.

Thanks for the great story, a fan. Sounds like a beautiful first dance. Tis an excellent tune, and I often still get misty-eyed at it's sweetness.
